Your trust matters - here's how we protect your information

Look, we get it - privacy policies can be a real pain to read through. But here at Dreadforge Chronos, we're straight shooters. We've been working on engines and building relationships since day one, and that means being upfront about how we handle your info.
This policy lays out what data we collect when you visit our shop or use our website, what we do with it, and how we keep it safe. We're not in the business of selling your information - we're in the business of making your ride perform like it should.
We're pretty straightforward about what we need from you. Here's the breakdown:
When you book an appointment or reach out to us, we'll need the basics - your name, phone number, email address, and sometimes your mailing address. Can't really call you about your car being ready without a phone number, right?
We keep records of your ride - make, model, year, VIN, mileage, service history with us, and any modifications we've done. This stuff's crucial for tracking what we've worked on and planning future services. Plus, when you roll in with that '68 Charger for the third time, we remember exactly what ECU tune we programmed last visit.
Gotta get paid somehow - we collect payment info, billing addresses, and transaction history. Don't worry though, credit card processing happens through secure third-party systems. We never actually see or store your full card details on our end.
Our website collects some technical stuff automatically - IP addresses, browser type, pages you visit, how long you hang around. Standard web analytics that help us figure out if our site's working properly or if it's loading slower than a seized engine.
We're not collecting data just for kicks. Here's what we actually do with it:
We take protecting your data as seriously as we take torque specs. Here's what we do:
Our systems use encryption, secure servers, firewalls, and regular security updates. Website traffic runs through SSL encryption - that's the little padlock in your browser.
Paper records are locked up. Our shop has security cameras and restricted access to the office area where customer files are kept.
Our team knows the deal about customer privacy. Only folks who need access to your info for legitimate work reasons can see it.
Real talk though - no system's 100% bulletproof. We do our absolute best, but we can't guarantee total security. That's just being honest.
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA specifically), you've got some solid rights regarding your personal info:
Request a copy of what personal data we have about you.
Fix any inaccurate info we've got on file.
Ask us to delete your data (with some legal exceptions).
Unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime.
Get your data in a usable format to take elsewhere.
Challenge how we're using your information.
To exercise any of these rights, just reach out to us. We'll respond within 30 days max, usually way faster.
We don't hang onto your info forever. Here's our general approach:
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Service & Vehicle Records | 7 years after last service (legal requirement for warranty purposes) |
| Financial Records | 7 years (Canadian tax law requirement) |
| Marketing Data | Until you unsubscribe or 3 years of inactivity |
| Website Analytics | 26 months |
| General Contact Info | While you're an active customer, plus 2 years |
After these periods, we securely delete or anonymize the data. Sometimes we're legally required to keep stuff longer - we'll let you know if that applies.
If you've got questions about this policy, want to exercise your privacy rights, or just want to chat about how we handle your data, we're here for it.

You've also got the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you think we're not handling your data properly. We'd prefer to work it out directly with you first, but that option's always there.
We might update this policy from time to time as our business evolves or laws change. When we make significant changes, we'll let you know via email or a notice on our website. Last thing we want is to surprise anyone with policy changes.
